Zombie pigeons

Here’s an interesting story: lemme preface this by saying – I hate pigeons. Ugh. They are gross. Ok, moving on we were driving with the kids in Manhattan with my brother, and we started talking about the zombie pigeons in NYC.

It’s just what I call them. If you’ve seen the pigeons in NY you would understand. They are seriously jacked up and they still are moving around. For example:

I was on the Staten Island ferry with my brother when a pigeon with one eye .. one leg .. came limping up towards us.

They freak me out.

Anyways my brother and I were making jokes about the zombie pigeons when my kids started freaking out “wait for real?!” “Zombie pigeons in NY?!!

After explaining that I’m dramatical and sarcastic(& they have difficulty understanding sarcasm) they calmed down.

While a funny memory for me? It’s a big reminder, to watch (or really listen to) what I say or how I act.

Not only do I have to be an example to my kids .. but to all that I come across. I am an example of Christ.

In Matthew 24, it talks about how people will leave the church and be misguided by false prophets. And I could totally see that happening with the way the church has been lately.

We are not being an example of Christ. We are argumentative.. judging .. angry. Jesus loved .. yes our God is a just and mighty God .. but He is also loving.

That doesn’t mean cow towing to people .. but treating others with respect. That doesn’t mean accepting the sin .. but loving the sinner. That doesn’t mean being a doormat … but learning when to walk away and pray for the lost.

We need to be like Christ and lead with love. Remember my friends, to some people? We are the only example of God they will ever see.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:34-35
